The world has been undergoing a mobile communications revolution for the past 5 years, and it is a constant journey of somersaults and exciting breakthroughs. From wearable devices to connected cars and home, mobile technology is at the heart of worldwide innovation. The Mobile World Congress held these last 4 days in Barcelona was a congress gathering industry leaders, visionaries and innovators. Thus, going was a must!

Promising to offer a unique platform for business opportunities and relationship building, we were fuelled to attend and make the most out of this one-of-a-kind networking opportunity. Indeed, the main exhibition halls were filled with IoT, wearables, drones and Next Gen technologies to name a few. Amongst the most prominent companies which exhibited there was Cisco Systems, Deloitte, Facebook, Google, Lenovo, Nokia, Microsoft, Toyota and Vodafone.

Amongst the most important innovations presented, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality have been a hit, creating an entire customer experience. The latter, are set to transform business processes. For instance, putting a user in a VR environment can enable a deeper understand of people’s behaviour and needs. AR and VR offer an immersive experience and intuitive access to real-time context-relevant information. This is said to improve collaboration and work results and foster brand loyalty. AR and VR forms of entertainment took prominence at the congress, and we played games which placed us in different augmented realities. It was amazing!

Another aspect worth mentioning is that digital technologies are coming together to make commerce more immersive and even more convenient for its customers. Not only that, but it is also increasingly insightful and effective for retailers because they are making the purchase even more customer oriented. Besides all of this, we saw innovative data utilisation to offer most suitable real time adverts to clients through face recognition and mobile connection, with reward systems. 3D Product Experiences were also present, which went put into a domestic environment give an exceptional real feeling!
